Is a Round Dining Table Right for Your Home?

As you begin your search to find new furnishings for your dining room or breakfast area, it is important to consider the shape of table you will be buying. For many years, the shapes you had available to you were largely limited to rectangular and oval, as these were the most popular options and therefore the most prevalent options in stores. However, in recent years, many people have started decorating with a square or even a round dining table. There are advantages to using each unique shape of table for your space. With the rising popularity of the round dining table, you may considering if this shape is right for your family and your dining space.

A circular table is most commonly used in a breakfast area or less formal dining area. You can find a wide variety of these tables in stores, in both light and dark woods. They are also common in glass-topped tables for a more contemporary look. One thing to consider before buying such a table is the size of the room. Many dining spaces are rectangular in shape, and some breakfast rooms are irregularly shaped. Their generally smaller size may be ideal for smaller rooms, but your room may be off balance if you do not also consider adding a baker’s rack or other accent furnishing piece to balance your space.

Another factor to consider with a round dining table is whether you will have enough space to seat your family. If you entertain often, you likely will want to have space for a few guests as well. Many circular tables have space to seat only four or sometimes six people. There are larger tables available which seat eight, but these are often more difficult to find. Shopping online for your table will make it easier for you to find the perfect size and style of table for your space.
