When you buy a dining table set, your set will often come with a table, a specified number of table chairs, and likely either a baker’s rack or a china cabinet depending on how formal your furnishings are. Sometimes, however, people shopping for a matching set of dining furnishings may find the perfect table and accent furnishings, but will not be in love with the table chairs. Perhaps they are uncomfortable or not quite the right size. When chairs are too big, they can swallow you and your family, but if they are too small, they can make you feel just as uncomfortable.
When you find the perfect set for your dining space but the chairs just aren’t right, many people will consider buying table chairs separately. Whether you buy your set in the store or online, many retailers may have some alternative seating options available to you to ensure you get the right shade of stain to match the other furnishings. In other cases, especially in more formal rooms, you may decide to buy completely different seating and cover those chairs with slipcovers. Slipcovers can give your space a more elegant look. They can become quite dirty, however, especially with frequent use. So be sure your slipcovers are washable and can easily be removed.
If you find that the biggest problem you have with the seating that comes with the set of furniture you are buying is how uncomfortable they are, you can always add seat cushions. These are largely used for more casual spaces and are a great way to add an additional decorative element to your space. Some people will buy them in a set to match window coverings or even the place mats, table runner or tablecloth.
With so many options available to you, there is no need to worry if you don’t completely love the seating that comes with your dining table set.
